- פִּינָּה, פִּנָּהf. (b. h.; פָּנָה) 1) turn, movement.Pl. (פּוֹנוֹת) פִּינּוֹת. Yoma 58b כל פי׳ שאתה פונהוכ׳ (Ms. M. 2 פנות; Ms. O. פו׳) all the turns you make (in the Temple) must be towards the right; ib. 15b (Ms. M. פו׳); Zeb.62b (Ms. M. פו׳); Sot.15b פו׳; Yalk. Lev. 446 פְּנִיּוֹת; a. e.(With the exception of Sot. l. c. our editions read פינות). 2) corner. Ex. R. s. 37, beg. (ref. to Zech. 10:4) ממנו פ׳ זהוכ׳ ‘from him (Israel) the cornerstone is taken, this refers to King David (with ref. to Ps. 18:22). Ab. dR. N. ch. XXVIII שלש מידות … אבן פ׳וכ׳ there are three qualities of scholars, a hewn stone (seated in the wall), a corner stone ; אבן פ׳ שיש לו שתי פיותוכ׳ (one versed in Midrash and Halakhah) is a corner stone which has two faces only.Pl. as ab.
